Bre Roedema

2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen

Hi everyone! My name is Bre Roedema and I am honored and excited to be your 2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen. I am 18 years old and a senior at Castle View High School in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado. Next fall, I will be attending Colorado State University, where I will study equine science and pre-veterinary science. I live with my mom, Laura, and my older brother, David. Our Family also includes our dogs, Toby and Riley, our chickens, Ms. Fancy Pants and Amelia, and Willow, my 10-year-old grey mare. She is the best teammate I could ask for and you will see me riding her at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo!

I have been riding horses since I was three years old. My mom always told me that she knew I had a love for horses when she put me on my first pony ride and when it was time to get off, I started crying. Ever since then my mom has taken me to lessons and any rodeo we were able to go to, including the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo and the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo. Being the only person in my family to ride horses, I could have never had the experiences or have gotten to where I am now without the endless support of my family. Once we were able to afford a horse, I got Willow. Currently, Willow and I compete in 4-H shows, other local shows, and within the American Quarter Horse Association. In 4-H, which I have now been participating in for three years, I am in the horse and dog project where I won Grand Champion in both horse and dog for my age division here at our very own Douglas County Fair & Rodeo. I have had the amazing opportunity to serve as President of my dog club for two years and am Parliamentarian of my other club. 4-H has taught me so much. I now know more about my animals and more about agriculture from being able to listen to other 4-H members talk about their projects and from my own projects.

The western way of life has a community and atmosphere that I have been drawn to since I was three years old. Rodeo has given my family a welcoming atmosphere and a family fun tradition for many years and more to come. Whenever we would go to a rodeo I would be in awe of the cowboys and cowgirls, especially the rodeo queen carrying the beautiful American flag on an amazing horse. Little did my mom know that one day I would be one of those cowgirls carrying the American Flag. I am passionate about sharing my love for the western heritage, agriculture, and the sport of rodeo with the public.

I hope to see your family at the 101st Douglas County Fair & Rodeo. This has been a tradition that has shaped me into who I am today, and I hope that your family will join a community that is unlike any other. There is family fun for everyone with Xtreme Bulls, three PRCA rodeos, carnival rides, many 4-H exhibits, and concerts. Make a tradition for your family and create memories at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, August 1-4 and don’t forget the 4-H and local exhibits starting July 27th!My family, Willow, and I look forward to seeing you there!

Kayla Bailey

2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess

Hello everyone! My name is Kayla Bailey and I am your 2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess. I feel so blessed and honored to represent my hometown rodeo this year traveling all over the state of Colorado representing the sport of rodeo, agriculture and the western way of life!

Ever since I was little, I have always had a desire to be around horses. While they may seem big and scary to a two-year-old, my mom always tells the story of me fearlessly walking up to any horse. I am so blessed to have my very own horse and teammate named Tessa that I’ve had for about a year.I have big plans for us including showing in 4-H with her and in the future, competing at the American Quarter Horse Congress. This year for rodeo I am also lucky enough to ride an amazing horse named Rain who belongs to our close family friends.

My mom, dad, two incredible brothers, two crazy dogs, and one horse all live in Highlands Ranch. Without their amazing love and support I would not have been be able to accomplish what I have, and with their continued support I will be able to achieve my future goal of becoming an equine veterinarian. Thank you to my extraordinary parents for being with me every step of the way; supporting my dreams from day one and always encouraging me to strive to do my best. I would also like to give a big thank you to my brother who has been there for me every step of the way; for the long hauls to rodeos and the late-night drives. I truly don’t know where I would be without all of you.

For me, being a part of the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Royalty Program is about so much more than having a crown and a sash. As a little girl I remember watching the beautiful girls ride on their horses under the arena lights and thinking that I wanted to be just like them when I grew up. Each young lady who has worn the crown that I have the privilege of wearing has inspired me to be the best person that I can possibly be. I am so blessed to be a role model to so many young girls and boys. I want every young girl that has the same dream that I did to know that they can do it! With hard work and perseverance, anything is possible.

I can’t wait to see you and your family at the 101st Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, August 1-4 and local events including the 4-H exhibits beginning July 27th.Visit FairAndRodeoFun.com for more info!

Georgia Strimenos

2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen ATTENDANT

Hello everyone! My name is Georgia Strimenos, and I am honored and excited to be serving as the 2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen Attendant! I am a 17-year-old senior at Castle View High School, and I live with my mom, Jenny, and my dad, George. I also have a brother who serves in the U.S. Army. We live in Larkspur along with my 3 alpacas, 2 horses, my dog, and our pet chicken.

I have been a member of Douglas County 4-H for 6 years participating in the horse, alpaca, poultry, and horseless horse projects. In the horse project for 2018, my horse and I won Reserve Champion in Level 2 Western riding, Level 1 English riding, and Gymkhana. I also had the honor of receiving the 2018 Superior Horseman Award. I have competed in the alpaca/llama show for two years and won Grand Champion in 2017 and 2018. My favorite part of 4-H has been being a part of leadership activities in my club and youth council. In my club I've served as Secretary, Council Representative and President in 2017-18 and 2018-19. In Youth Council I've served as President and as the current Parliamentarian. I have also taken my projects to the Colorado State Fair and won Reserve Grand Champion in horseless horse.

My horse, Slim, is a 14-year-old American Quarter Horse. We participate in shows and events outside of 4-H such as the Douglas County Buckle Series where we won Reserve All Around Champion in 2018. We also show with the Parker Trail Riders organization, and in 2018 we won Reserve Champion in English Pleasure and Grand Champion in Western Pleasure. Slim and I also love to do working ranch horse events and just ride around the pasture at home. My horse, Magic, is a 22-year-old American Paint Horse. You can find us riding at numerous rodeos and parades in Colorado and of course at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo.

At school I am very involved in the music program. I love to sing, and I sing in three audition choirs at Castle View; Red Hot, Versailles, and Voices of the Pride. I also serve as captain of the Junior Varsity Poms team. I am proud to say I have lettered in academics for two years. After high school I plan on working towards degrees that will allow me to run animal-assisted therapy programs for children and veterans.

When my family and I have free time, we love camping, 4 wheeling, finding adventures in the mountains, and riding our horses. I would like to thank my family for doing just about everything under the sun for me in order to help me pursue my passion in horses and rodeo. I could never thank them enough for all they've done for me, from taking my horses places, to helping me get ready for events and rodeos. Their support is endless!

The Douglas County Fair & Rodeo has a very fun and action-packed year ahead! I am beyond excited to be an ambassador for my hometown fair & rodeo and share it with all of you and your families. There is truly something for everyone... from bucking broncs to cricket races, there is never a dull moment. Magic, Slim, and I can't wait to see you at the 2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, August 1st-4th with local events and 4-H exhibits beginning July 27th!

Kylie Scherck

2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess Attendant

Hello! My name is Kylie Scherck and I am so honored to be serving as the 2019 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess Attendant. I am 15 years old and currently attend Lutheran High School as a sophomore. My family includes my amazing mother, Kim, an older sister, Taylor, a younger brother, Alec, my dog, Snickers, 3 chickens, and my pride and joy, Timex, a 17 year old chestnut Quarter Horse.

My passion for horses and the sport of rodeo began at a young age and has never died. Being born into a family who did not have experience with horses or the western way of life, my journey has been quite an interesting one. From taking groupon lessons, to consistent lessons with a trainer, to leasing a horse, and to finally purchasing my horse, it has truly been an amazing ride. My first and current horse, Timex, has been such a blessing in my life. This is my second year in 4-H, where I show horses. Throughout the year, Timex and I will be at Western and English open shows, gymkhanas, and Working Ranch Horse shows. It is a dream of mine to go on and show through the National Reined Cow Horse Association. Timex and I are thrilled to see you all at parades and other local rodeos this year!

This being my second year in the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Royalty Program, previously as your 2018 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess Attendant, I know that none of this would be possible without such an incredible support team and my faith in God. The support of my trainers, family, friends, and the people I have met through the rodeo community have had such a big influence on my life and I would not be where I am, or who I am today without them!

This year, I hope to inspire others to grow the sport and community of rodeo while promoting and being an ambassador of the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo. Join me, Timex and my family at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, August 1-4, 2019, where we have been Rocking the Stock in Castle Rock for the past 100 years! FairAndRodeoFun.com for more info!
