Caitlin Dempsey

2022 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen

Hi, my name is Caitlin Dempsey, and I am the 2022 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen. I have had the horse bug since the day I was born, and it is something that has always interested me. So, when I was around 8 years old, I started taking lessons and have been riding ever since. As part of the agriculture program in high school, I learned about the ag industry and the kind of impact it has on our society. When I turned fifteen, I got my first horse (Lily), who you will see at the rodeos this summer. Lily is a 16-year-old, gray American Quarter Horse and has taught me so much. Keep an eye out for us and please come say hello!

Outside of horses and rodeo I am going to film school where I’m majoring in acting and directing. I have had a passion for filmmaking and photography and my ultimate dream would be to find a way to combine my love for horses and film. Another fun hobby I enjoy is performing with my drill team. As part of this group of twenty-four girls, we perform together at rodeos and events all over Colorado. This team has strengthened the connection with me and my horse in ways I couldn’t even imagine. In addition to the drill team, my dad has supported me through all these moments that have led me to this point in my life. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without this support system by my side, and I am so blessed to have them!

I am so happy to share this beautiful sport of rodeo with you all and can’t wait to see you at our annual Fair & Rodeo in August. I’ve always been a huge fan of rodeo and have been going to them since a very young age. There are so many great memories with my family going to see rodeos and I hope that you all can make just as great memories when you come and join us in Castle Rock. At Douglas County Fair & Rodeo there is something for everyone to enjoy and that's the best part! I feel so honored to represent this beautiful sport that I love so much. My goal with having this title is to educate the public on rodeos and make people more aware of how much the agriculture industry plays into their daily lives; it's such an important topic that people don’t know enough about. This is going to be a great year and Lily and I can’t wait to see you all this summer!

Taylor Evans

2022 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen ATTENDANT

Hello! My name is Taylor Evans and I'm the 2022 Queen Attendant. I grew up in what used to be smaller Elizabeth. I've been around the agricultural lifestyle my whole life. My father started me young with hunting and fishing and it is still a huge part of my life. I will always remember going to the Elizabeth stampede and the Douglas County Fair Grounds when I was little and loving everything that happened in the arenas. I didn't participate in 4-H, but I found myself loving to help around my god-parents cattle ranch.

I currently live in Parker with my parents and younger sister. My family is some of the biggest supporters I know. I can always count on them to be in the stands at any rodeo or other events I may be participating in. They play a huge role in my title. My dad will trailer my horse for me and my mother helps with everything else; the makeup, hair, clothing and making sure I stay on schedule. My grandfather and grandmother are right next to them cheering me on. I must also thank our family friends the Wheeler’s and the Worley’s for putting in the time to train with me and being a huge introductory part of horsemanship and the basics of rodeo fun.

Clara Griffith

2022 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess

Hi Y’all! My name is Clara Griffith; I am excited to serve as the 2022 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Princess. I am 16 years old and a sophomore at Ponderosa High School. I live with my two amazing parents, and my two awesome younger sisters. My family is very involved in 4-H in Douglas County, as my mom is our Horse leader, and my dad is our Shooting Sports leader. I participate in many different activities, including Skills USA, 4-H, Royalty, my church Worship Group, and also enjoy spending time snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, fixing my 79’ Ford Truck, and generally enjoying rural living in this great County. I take my schooling very seriously and plan on furthering my education by pursuing an engineering degree in college.

I have been a member of 4-H for 9 years, participating in the horse project, market beef, market swine, and shooting sports. In the horse project I have progressed through the four levels of horsemanship in the Western Division, and this past year I won the High Point Buckle in the Western Level 4 Division at State Fair. I just started showing steers last year, and while it is different from showing horses, I have fallen in love with it. This year my steer’s name is Charlie!

My family has 5 horses where we live, but my baby is my horse Crownie. I got him back in 2017 and we have come a long way together. Our favorite thing to do is the cattle classes, specifically Working Ranch Horse. We compete through COVRHA and AQHA and are working towards competing at the AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Show in 2023. Crownie has been such a fun horse to figure out, and we have been very successful together. You can find all of us riding at numerous events in Colorado and of course at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo.

The Douglas County Fair & Rodeo has an extremely fun and action-packed year ahead. I am excited to be an ambassador for my hometown rodeo. There is something for everyone at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, from bucking bulls to carnival games, and never a dull moment. Crownie, Charlie and I cannot wait to see you at the 4-H exhibits and local events! See you there!
