2020 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen ATTENDANT
Hello! My name is Shelby Schroeder and I’m honored to serve as your 2020 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Queen Attendant. This will be my third year representing Douglas County, previously as the 2016 Princess Attendant, and as the 2017 Princess. I am 16 years old and currently attend Colorado Early Colleges as a junior, with plans to graduate high school with my High School Diploma and an Associates in Business. My twin brother, Preston, and parents, Don & Julie Schroeder are huge supporters and I’m beyond thankful for the support they provide both on my journey and in my passion for the sport of rodeo. Our family includes my four horses, four dogs, five cats, and a goat! Jlo is my seven-year-old mare that you will see me riding throughout the year in parades and rodeos.
Blessed to be riding since the age of two, horses have become a very large part of my life and have developed into a true passion of mine. Active in 4-H, I compete in the horse project as a level three western rider and a level one english rider. My equine partners and I also compete in events such as ranch horse, western, english, and gymkhana within the 4-H horse project, and in other local shows where we’ve won numerous awards throughout the years. I also enjoy being able to participate in the artistic clothing 4-H project, where I am able to add new style to my clothing, and this past year won Best in Show and Grand Champion, and Reserve Champion at State Fair for my project. Spreading the word about the sport of rodeo, agriculture, and the western way of life is another passion of mine and in the future, I would also like to be able to compete in the National Reined Cow Horse Association. Outside of royalty and horse activities I enjoy riding dirt bikes, spending quality time with friends and family, and arts and crafts.
With a very busy and exciting year ahead representing Douglas County, I am looking forward to sharing my love for the western lifestyle with everyone. I would love to see you all the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo July 30th- August 2nd, which will include our three Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sanctioned rodeos, and Xtreme Bulls. Jlo and I can’t wait to see you there!
